I live in central Maine (44W 69W) and have seen very, very few Monarchs. I have found only 2 5th instars which I have or will have in class, and which I will tag with Univ, of Kansas tags when the butterflies emerge. It seems to have been a very poor year for monarches, though the milkweed is plentiful and was early. It was, however, a very cool, damp summer.
