Monarch (OTHER Observations)

Date: 09/11/2000

Number: 1

I have been (attempting to ) observe and tag monarchs on two evenings in the last week. Once was to a new location - a goldenrod meadow in SouthernLycoming County. We saw one monarch - a male. Last night, I went to a proven spot - a gas pipeline in Northern Lycoming county where we tagged numerous monarchs for monarch watch last season. Again we saw ONE Monarch -a female. Both evenings were calm and warm, ideal weather for monarchs to be on the move. Based on these observations, it seems that the heavy migration has not yet reached this area of Pennsylvania.
