Monarch (OTHER Observations)

Date: 09/05/2000

Number: 1

Two fourth graders found a Monarch butterfly caterpillar on the playground at School 84 in Indianapolis, Indiana on September 5. They gave the caterpillar to Mrs. Mintz's fifth grade class. They put the caterpillar in a container. The caterpillar made a light green cocoon overnight. On September 15, the lime green color wasn't there. It had the color of the butterfly. Five minutes later, a little part of the wing came out. A few seconds later, all of the butterfly came out of the bottom of the cocoon.
