Signs of Fall

Date: 09/17/2000

Number: 1

Sunday afternoon, 9/17/00, warm and clear weather. Observed 6 bald eagles riding thermals working their way slowly south over our home in Roseville near Lake Owasso. One was flying low, apparently hunting; the others were flying much higher up, barely visible without binoculars. Also saw a flock of 50-60 pelicans alternately riding thermals and flying south in a v-formation. This is the first time in 14 years here that we've observed either bald eagles or pelicans migrating through the neighborhood.
