6752 Monarchs migrating at rate of 200 per hour today! A cold front came through yesterday at about 4:00 P.M. Within the next hour about 20 Monarchs per hour were observed heading almost due south (with the wind). It was cool and rainy this morning but as the sky cleared this afternoon(9/20), the migration rate was about 200 per hour! Monarchs drifted by at all levels roof top to over 300 feet up. The direction of flight was variable and mostly South but some were flying West.The wind was out of the NNW 5 to 10 miles per hour, temperature was in the 60's.
