Monarch PEAK Migration

Date: 09/22/2000

Number: 1

While we were outside on our Autumn nature hike at about 1:30 pm we observed a monarch flying south over the pond in the park next to our school. Many students that live near Lake Erie have reported sighting clusters of monarchs flying south this past week. In the late afternoon large groups of monarchs can be seen at Mentor Headlands Beach State Park resting in the trees after flying over Lake Erie.
