Monarch (OTHER Observations)

Date: 09/28/2000

Number: 1

We have seen a few monarchs in our area lately, but we are amazed at where we are finding monarch caterpillars and chrysalis. One student has found 3 monarch caterpillars in his Daylily patch. Is it a possiblity that monarchs also lay their eggs on flowers other than milkweed plants? We know that these are monarch larva because we have 2 jade green chrysalis with golden spots formed from them. Please let us know if you can answer our question.
