Monarch PEAK Migration

Date: 10/06/2000

Number: 1

The students of Donoho School's third grade have spotted a few Monarch butterflies, but not as many as in previous years. Taylor D. saw two this past week, Blake saw one at the soccer field, Trey saw one on a flower drinking nectar, Ben saw three at church, Taylor K. saw three at the lake, Charlie saw about 8 together at the mall, Erin saw one at school, Ellen saw 4 on flowers at her house, Rachel saw one at her Dad's office, Jake saw two flying around, Will saw one on the playground. These sightings were over a week and a half time period. The weather has been very hot and dry here. Flowers have dried up and there is not as much water available. We wonder if that is why we haven't seen as many Monarchs. A cold front is moving in this weekend. Our class wonders if we will see any more Monarchs after it turns colder.
