The record setting cold front of the weekend has caused a fantastic fallout of birds in Texas. It is like spring migration in reverse. Birds that would normally fly across the Gulf are showing up in great numbers across Texas. A Texas Birder said it might be one of the most significant fall fallouts of migratory birds that we have seen. We counted six Kestrels in half a mile on the hi-lines as we drove home this afternoon. There are a large number of cold, wet monarchs that haven't gotten past central Texas and I-10 ... should show up in south Texas as soon as there is a break in the drizzle ... and record low temps.
