we own 10 acres, but live on just one. the habitat is piney flat woods. we control burn 5 acres of it every 3 years in the late summer so there will be lots of native wildflowers in the fall during peak butterfly activity. the house is surrounded with hardwood trees such as paw-paw, sasafras, yellow poplar, catalpa, ash,dogwood, birch, beech, sycamore,
>redbud, sweetgum,cypress,fringe tree,crabapple and a variety of oaks. the understory of the hardwoods is made up of lantana, pintas, buddlia, passion vine, cypress vine, spanish needle, zinna, milkweed, joe-pye weed, ironweed, with weedy patches throughout.
