Tulips PLANTED

Date: 10/13/2000

Number: 1

The almost world-famous grade 3-4 class planted their official Journey North tulip garden at the Caressant Senior Citizens Home in beautiful downtown Marmora on October 13, 2000. The weather was sunny and warm. Tulips were planted at 10:30am. Our senior citizen grandfriends came out to help us. The seniors who are in wheelchairs watched us and helped us make sure the tulips were planted face up! The garden is located behind the nursing home in a sunny area. A total of 75 tulips were planted in the new garden which was dug for us by our grade 8 friends. Here is a report from Brianna about the day:
"We planted at 10:30am. We broke up the soil. THen we dug a hole. We measured to make sure the hole was 11cm deep. We put a spoonful of bone meal in the hole. Then we put the bulbs in the hole. Then we covered the bulbs. We planted the tulips because we wanted to decorate around the tower near the nursing home."
The class has also planted a second garden with other tulip varieties
