Monarch Adult Sighted

Date: 10/03/2000

Number: 1

This year, I checked for monarchs at approximately the same time each day, between 4:40-5:30pm, nectaring in the backyard garden. From September 7th through September 13th,it was usual to see between 1-5 monarchs each day. Then nothing until 1 on Sept 27th & 28th, 3 on Sept. 30th, 4 on October lst, l on Oct 2nd & 3rd.

October 3rd was the last time I spotted a monarch. We had light frosts previous and our first killing frost on October 6th. These last days of October I haven't seen cabbage moth/common sulphur butterflies anymore either. They had been plentiful after the monarchs had ceased to feed in the backyard. Our hummingbird left pretty late this year, too.
