Ah yes, this was a late planting, but the soil, beneath a foot of snow and about an inch of frozen topsoil, was loose, warm, and waiting for our 40 Red Emperors. Mrs. Oakberg's kindergartners and Mrs. Matosich's K-1 Multiage students did the planting, followed by an activity in which I helped them design and make a pictograph for recording the emergence and blooming that we eagerly look forward to in Spring 2001.
