We planted about 125 Red Emperor tulips on a cold, windy day in front of the school in the same place we planted last year. We noticed that the bulbs from last year's tulips were rotted away, and we could only find their outside shells. We had a fairly wet summer and fall, so maybe that is why they rotted away rather than remain in the soil.
