My fourth graders and Mrs. Franson's 2nd graders were the first group to plant their tulips on November 16th. We were very fortunate because we have clear skies and relatively warm weather for that time of year. The temperature was around 42 degrees Fahrenheit. It was a little bit cold but we planned ahead and dressed for the weather so we stayed pretty warm. We were able to dig through the ground easily since it wasn't frozen.
