We aren't sure whether they are first wave southbound or or northbound, but the backyard and neighborhood have been alive with American Robins since early this morning. The first robins we have seen in numbers in years ... possibly because this has been the first real winter we have had in about eleven years along the Texas middle coast. About five this afternoon we counted eighteen robins in the backyard ... we had forgotten how much chatter they made. We were watching a male Rufous Hummingbird at its feeder and seven American Goldfinches at their feeder when Altus noticed the ground was alive with the robins at eight this morning.
