Monarch Adult (FIRST sighted)

Date: 01/22/2001

Number: 1

An adult Monarch emerged today from a pupae that survived several winter freezes (30°F lowest). The last batch of Monarchs seen in November produced many larvae and followed by ten pupae that I could find. Some turned black and died within a month. There has not been a living milkweed in our yard for at least 6 weeks.
