Wintering Robins - I've seen wintering robins off and on all fall and winter in Fort Erie, Ontario - across the Niagara River and International Border from Buffalo, NY.
Area seen - deep brush with berries.
The robins seen feeding on various berries - although other species feed on the berries, there seems to be a white berry that is relatively untouched by other birds. Occasionally a few individual birds are seen, but usually there are several birds, up to a flock of 20. Sometimes the birds are not visible, but audible, keeping to the lower branches.
I suspect that these robins are on the southern fringe of their migration area - migrating far north during spring and as such more tolerant to cold weather, than the typical 'spring' robin that will nest here.
