Robin (WAVE seen)

Date: 01/31/2001

Number: 1

Robins are year 'round birds in eastern North Carolina. In the winter we always can count on seeing them every day.

Sometimes, however, flocks of robins descend on us from out of nowhere. This happens in the spring and the fall, as you might expect, but it also happens irregularly during the winter. These flocks have most likely migrated south and then have become opportunistic nomads. They move east, west, north and
south looking for food.

Two weeks ago in Buies Creek, North Carolina (where I am in school) such a flock arrived. There were several hundred here on 1/31/01 (300-500).
