Saturday, Feb. 10, while birding at the Savannah NWR in southern-most SC, I noted a roving flock of about 200 robins, several of which were singing. They often sing, throughout winter, during a sunny day, as do many bird species, such as White-throated and Song Sparrows. It would be mis-leading to take singing or activity of Robins in the South as a "sign of Spring". Indeed, as spring approaches, most of them leave, with small numbers remaining to nest in urban and suburban neighborhoods.
