Monarch (OTHER Observations)

Date: 02/24/2001

Number: 1

Have seen monarchs regularly the past week whenever the temperature is above 60 degrees. On the 19th, I noticed that my milkweed plants were sprouting. They received frost damage over the winter and there was nothing green above the soil line. On the 24th, one very ragged butterfly laid 10 eggs on the one inch sprouts of one stand of milkweed. Other stands in the yard, away from this one, show no eggs.
