Our 3rd grade LEAP students are able to study their Journey North tulip garden once each week- on Wednesdays. So, the LEAP staff has been observing the garden the rest of the week. Our first bulb emerged on 2-23, the second on 2-26, and two more on 2-27. The students will compare the emergence dates to a new prediction they made last week based on Edwin Teale's idea that spring travels 15 miles per day and that spring must have been in Oklahoma for their bulbs to emerge on 2-7-01. We estimated spring would reach our St. Louis garden on 2-27! Wow!
