Robin (WAVE seen)

Date: 02/27/2001

Number: 1

We have actually had hundreds of reports of robins all winter long. We have had the same experience for the past three winters- it seems that a good number of robins are wintering over.

Historically robins have always wintered over in Maine, but in much smaller numbers. These robins were thought to actually be the Newfoundland subspecies however the birds that have been reported this winter appear to be-based on verbal descriptions, a mix of both the Newfoundland race and the regular American Robin.
