My husband (David Veselka), two friends (Bob and Maggie Honig), saw a gorgeous monarch on Saturday, February 17, in the afternoon on Mad Island, a Nature Conservancy property near Palacios. The butterfly looked too fresh and healthy to have been a migrant.
