Robin (WAVE seen)

Date: 03/05/2001

Number: 1

I can't exactly pinpoint which robins are migrating, and which are
residents-or are moving short distances. We have robins all year round
here.(Next to starlings they are usually the largest number on Xmas
counts)No one singing,but I hear their little soft bell notes.I saw 5
hanging out in a little tree in the wind-driven snowfall a while
ago.Others were under the structure that houses the dining hall.I live in
a retirement complex.Yesterday,as I walked up the hill on the mini golf
course, some were in a flowering crab-the large fruit kind. But they seemed
uninterested in the fruits. These may not be ready to eat yet.
This morning 25 flew over in the freezing rain-but they were going
southeast.
Song sparrows and cardinals are singing.I'll let you know when robins
sing.
