Sighted numerous (2-3 dozen) red wing blackbirds along Highway 49, 5 miles south of Jonesboro, Arkansas. All birds were individuals. Most birds were perched on old cattails in ditches along the edge of rice fields. Time of day was between 5:00 and 6:00 p.m., before sundown. Weather was clear, warm (50's F) and sunny. Observer was traveling at 55 mph southbound with birds on eastern side of road.
