I have a certified Backyard Habitat from the National Wildlife Federation. This is so important in this area because of all the building that is going on here. It is unusual to see hummingbirds, grosbeaks, chickadees etc. But I have them here in my yard! I always plant things for the birds and butterflies. I've had my pond for about 5 years now. The second I got done installing it I had 3 birds bathing there that were the most beautiful colors I'd ever seen (still dont know what they were). I've also included a small wildflower garden where the wild finches love to eat (cosmos flowers). Watching the hummingbirds at the end of the season is my favorite. I plant cypress vine all over and I think thats what originally attracted them. Now I have two feeders and they come back every year. HAPPY BIRDING!
