Red-winged Blackbird (FIRST sighted)

Date: 03/02/2001

Number: 1

We usually hear the redwing blackbirds singing in early to mid February around here. This is pretty late, and we imagine this might be due to snow cover hanging on longer. Canada geese have been flying in very large formations, too. They disappeared from the area during January and February. Usually we see these geese year round in Crystal Lake.
