Monarch Adult (FIRST sighted)

Date: 03/13/2001

Number: 1

One very faded female seen at noon in Suter Refuge butterfly garden, where blooming Mexican milkweed has been fed upon by non-migrant monarchs and queens and their larvae all winter. One of the non-migrants was just emerging from its chrysalis, allowing striking comparison with that obvious migrant. No egg-laying, just nectaring.
