I noted my first spring robins this morning (March 15)
on White Head Island, NB at the mouth of the Bay of Fundy. There were 10
birds foraging on a frozen lawn, and ones and twos elsewhere for a total of
15 birds. Earthworms are still deep underground, and won't be out until
April. At times such as these I have seen the robins capture large numbers
of greenish grubs, likely the larvae of the European Cranefly. Approximate
latilong for White Head is 44 38N by 66 42W. :o)
