Saw one or two Monarchs per day in Newton County. He said that he's visited Newton County every year (except two) in the third or fourth week in March since 1994 and has always seen Monarchs in single digits there at that time. Northern
Newton Co. receives the highest rainfall in Texas, c. 65 inches. It also has
the highest plant diversity in the state, c. 1,500 species. (Reported for Jason Singhurst by Mike Quinn, Texas Parks and Wildlife.)
