Monarch Adult (FIRST sighted)

Date: 03/24/2001

Number: 1

First monarchs of the season observed at St Marks Refuge. Observed 6 adults that were very pale but in good condition. They were feeding and resting on blackberry vine flowers.
I
don't know if the monarchs were at St Marks all winter
since this was my first visit back there since the end
of October.
(I live about 15 miles north of St Marks and I have not
yet seen monarchs in town but I have milkweed plants
out for them so I will be on the lookout for them.)
We only saw the monarchs in a fairly
small area about 500 yards long next to the road and
they appeared very pale compared to the brilliant
colors in October.

Here are some photos that I took at:

The photos in folders Monarch I and II were taken on October 28, 2000 and Monarch 3 was taken March 24,2001.
