A flock of about 50 robins swooped into my yard
around 5:30 and I noted something unusual. I've been fighting bindweed this spring, mostly by tearing it out by hand. I've never seen any critter go after this stuff, I assume because it's so sticky. There was a large pile of it on my
brush pile cum compost heap, and some of the robins were pulling off the beads on the stuff that had dried out.
The robins were still there next morning, having roosted in my big mesquite overnight (over the protest of the local white-wing doves, I might add). They fed for an hour or so, and then moved on.
