Monarch (OTHER Observations)

Date: 03/27/2001

Number: 1

Sorry, no
monarchs here yet. The weather this past week has been fairly cool and
this may be delaying things. Today, is another cool, cloudy
day and we are expecting more rain tonight--again, not good weather for butterflies. I will alert you on my first sighting.
Our native antelope horn milkweed is now in
bloom and the garden Mexican milkweed is now budding. I received an
e-mail from Mike Quinn from Texas stating that monarchs have been seen
on the Texas-La. border. But I have not seen a single individual.
Incidentally, the folks in New Orleans may be seeing monarchs because
some monarchs remained there this winter.
