my pre-k class is starting milkweed in our room to transplant into our monarch garden. the children had the wonderful experience of catching, raising, and tagging monarchs back in the fall and looked forward to the spring return. with spring now here, the kids are eagerly awaiting the monarchs to visit and hopefully feed on our milkweed. so far, we have 2 sprouts, but anticipate more.

>our 2001-2002 school year will begin the first week of august. by then, the garden should be well established so the fall monarchs will benefit. my plans for the new class are to raise, capture, and tag as many monarchs as possible and participate in the symbolic migration. opportunities to so many children and for helping educators to teach respect for the environment and other cultures.
