All Other Signs of Spring

Date: 03/29/2001

Number: 1

Today on my way home from school, along Highway 7, I saw my first turkey vulture of the spring! It was soaring above the rock cut just west of Madoc. The return of the vultures always reminds me that spring has come back to the eastern Ontario countryside! Since then I have seen several more vultures which regularly return to this area and have a nesting colony somewhere near the Madoc community dump....they may not be the most beautiful birds up close, but they are some of the most graceful soarers around! Welcome back turkey vultures!
