Being 20 minutes from the ocean, common loons are a common sight in winter here. The most recent local sightings indicate that they are still being seen at a place called Pine Point, Scarborough, Maine. One of my birdwatching buddies wrote on 3/25/01 that they are in nearly full breeding plumage.
