We have released sixty tagged monarchs at school this week ... watch for them to the north and east of the Texas mid coast. These were from eggs deposited by some of the early arrivals here in March and allowed to mature to fifth instars on Asclepias curassavica in the backyard. All were large and healthy and left the campus heading between north and east. Temperatures have ranged between 71 dF for the low and 85 dF for the high this week ... humid, south winds. We have another thirty that we might be able to release by Sunday. There is no spring tagging program! We just had tags and the monarchs to place them on.
