Monarch Adult (FIRST sighted)

Date: 04/08/2001

Number: 1

Unbelievable! Approx. 5:40pm, I witnessed a large monarch cruising NE 3 to 4 feet over open field of our property in Diamond Hill, 15mi NE of Athens. Weather was mostly sunny, calm with slight breezes and 86*F. I'm so excited! Yes, I am absolutely sure it was a monarch. In fact, yesterday as I was on my way to Watkinsville, travelling Hwy 29 southbound, I spied yet another. Northeast Georgia is finally on the map!! :)
