I saw my first loon clearly this morning on Gray's Bay in Lake Minnetonka, by the boat docks where water was kept open all winter (so spring thaw comes much earlier). I may have seen a loon or two in flight earlier (last week), but I couldn't confirm. The mergansers (red-breatestd and common) arrived en masse last week (April 4th), same day as big influx of robins. (Though I'm not sure whether daytime, nighttime arrivals.)
