Lee Harper of Massena, New York saw his first female red-winged blackbird on April 3, 2001. This was reported to me by Brian Morin, an expert birdwatcher and editor of Ontario Birding News. Massena is located in New York State, directly across from Cornwall, Ontario, up the St. Lawrence River and apparently there is an international bridge joining the Massena and Cornwall.
