I just looked out the patio doors in time to see a female robin sitting on the edge of a concrete planter pulling the dried stems of a blue fescue. She then flew to a large pine tree with her cache.
Very busy birds. Not a bit shy when I am working in the garden. I think they love it when I turn over the soil. I have turned up many worms and even a locust. Ugly sort. I had never seen one during hibernation. All white. It was alive because when I turned it up it started to squirm.
