While hiking on the White Memorial Foundation grounds, we followed the trail to Bantam Lake. We sat on platform to see what we could see. We spotted a Redtail Hawk, an Osprey, a pair of Hooded Mergansers, and 3 Loons! They flew into a small bay. One appeared to be immature, the other two were adults. We were amazed to see one come up with a fish in his bill, flip it around, and swallow!! We have never seen Loons in Connecticut, but have heard they have been sighted in the northwest hills. We watched them for about 30 minutes, until they poked their way to another bay.
