Monarch Adult (FIRST sighted)

Date: 04/20/2001

Number: 1

On our way to the ball field to play the World Championship Kickball game this morning, we sighted our first Monarch flitting from dandylion to dandylion blossom. By the way, we were unable to finish the game because of high winds and blowing dust so the Title is still up for grabs!

We have had a much greater number of Painted Lady butterflies in
Southern Colorado this spring than usual. This has given us the
opportunity to practice our observation skills. We are certain the
butterfly we reported was a monarch.
