Tulips EMERGED

Date: 04/20/2001

Number: 1

In the western Maine mountains, we had almost 100 inches of snow in March! Needless to say, we thought we would never see our tulips. Spring started to come the second week of April, bringing warm sun, dry air, and "hot" temperatures (over 45)

We watched the snowbanks receed before April vacation, and it was during vacation the last of the tulip snow cover left. Our tulips quickly emerged, which brought smiles and excitement to our 6th grade class. So far we have had about a 75% success rate, with the tulips that might have been planted deeper still to come up.

We are now eagerly awaiting our first blooms!
