Robins are building a nest in a tree beside our house. I watched them chase a cowbird away today, and then leave the nest alone for the rest of the day. The pair come by infrequently and seem to spend very little time in the nest, one standing watch for the other all the time. Perhaps this is to avoid attracting predators to the site, as there is no protection from leaf cover yet.
