Monarch Adult (FIRST sighted)

Date: 05/01/2001

Number: 1

We are 75 fifth grade students at Travis Elementary school in the Panhandle of Texas. We have been spotting several adult Monarch butterflies for the last couple of days flying in and out of bushes and grass around our playground. The days have been windy and warm for the last week, so the butterflies are not seen for very long. The wind tends to sweep them away.
