Monarch (OTHER Observations)

Date: 05/02/2001

Number: 1

Today the first monarch emerged from it's chrysalis here in Monticello. The egg it came from was laid by the first monarch of the season I caught back on April 3rd. It took 29 days from egg to adult, but it was raised indoors so the time it took might not be the same if it had been outside. The female that I caught on April 3rd that laid the egg is still laying eggs. So far, she has laid over 200 eggs. I have given some to other teachers, but I have about 120 chrysalids ready to open over the next week.
