Subject: Re: First Hummingbird & Barn Swallow, Parry Sound Area
Hi Don
I returned to Dillon Cove last night and saw my first RUBY-THROATED HUMMINGBIRD at our cottage today, May 3.
Also my first BARN SWALLOW for this area today too, May 3.
Dillon Cove is in Carling Township on Georgian Bay, just northwest of Parry Sound (just north of Killbear Prov. Park).
This is the earliest record I have for returning hummingbirds. I didn't have my feeders up yet but they are up now. My previous earliest record was May 5, 1999, right after a heat wave like we just had, with leaves emerging like they are right now. Lots of different species of frogs called last night in the warm still air.
Regards
