Robin (WAVE seen)

Date: 04/27/2001

Number: 1

The robins came in large groups searching for worms. Unfortunately, it is so dry and cold, they must experience disappointment.
Spring, as we see it, does not arrive until the red-winged blackbird arrives. We will consider spring officially here.
Can you help me with a spring observation? We are seeing for the first time large and small groups of large white birds, appear to be too big for a Snow goose but an uncommon neck for a swan. It is a big duck-like appearance with a black bill. The flocks are on the lake near Grimshaw, in the fields and a small group of 12 near Deadwood. One bird has a trakking antenea. As observed through binoculars the numbers are AT5 or ATS. We yearly observe the snowgeese but they seem to overnight and are on their way. This observation is unusual.Thank you for all your work on robins in Journey North. Our class certainly enjoyed the bird sounds.
